I was looking for a quote from Nicholas Humphrey’s Sentience. I went to his website, where I found out he just published a new book, Why Is the World So Beautiful? I read the first few pages, and the next question was why there’s so much of it. Rose petals and a floating plastic bag.

Beauty is recognizable. I loved the last scene from S5E10 of Billions for what it is at face value: the calm, the quiet, the patience.

I didn’t know that it was a homage to one of H’s favourites, Big Night, and I don’t even know if H recognized it as such at the time.

I found out about the original at random. The reverence and care put into faithfully following the movement and the emotions made me love the Billions one even more.
